His book “Plundered Skulls and Stolen Spirits: Inside the Fight to Reclaim Native America’s Culture” earns award in history category.

DENVER ― June 13 ― The Denver Museum of Nature & Science proudly announces that  Chip Colwell, senior curator of anthropology, earned a Colorado Book Award in the history category for his 2017 book “Plundered Skulls and Stolen Spirits: Inside the Fight to Reclaim Native America's Culture.”

 

“I was shocked and humbled to have ‘Plundered Skulls and Stolen Spirits’ receive a Colorado Book Award!” Colwell said. “I’m grateful for all of the amazing support the book has received from friends and colleagues over the eight years it took to research, write, publish, and, most important, get it onto people’s bookshelves and into their conversations.”

 

Colorado Book Awards is an annual program celebrating the accomplishments of Colorado’s outstanding authors, editors, illustrators and photographers. Colorado Humanities and the Colorado Center for the Book present awards in the categories of anthology/collection, biography, children’s, creative nonfiction, fiction, history, nonfiction, pictorial, poetry and young adult.
