Grant will provide admission and transportation scholarships for students, program support

DENVER – Jan. 28 – Google awarded the Denver Museum of Nature & Science a significant grant through its Field Trip Days program. It is not only the first grant of its kind for the Museum but it is the first among museums in the Rocky Mountain region. The grant will benefit 8,781 students and chaperones from 87 school districts during the 2015/2016 academic year by providing scholarships and funds for transportation.

“It takes great partnerships and our brilliant team to bring great science to a variety of audiences,” said Bridget Coughlin, the Museum’s vice president of strategic partnerships and programs. “We are so grateful to Google whose support allows us to reach further into underserved communities, allowing thousands of students to experience the Museum who may not otherwise have been exposed to this type of hands-on learning.”

This Google Field Trip Days grant covers 100 percent of the cost of the field trip and provides transportation cost support for Colorado schools where 50 percent or more of the students qualify for the federal Free and Reduced Lunch program.

"We love the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and think everyone should have the opportunity to go,” said Angie Welling, public policy and government affairs manager. “At Google we do a lot of learning by doing, and we hope these kids will fall in love with the Museum, and with learning, the way that we have."
