BLOCKBUSTER EXHIBITION

Now Open - BODY WORLDS & The Story of the Heart
BODY WORLDS & The Story of the Heart, an all-new exhibition, reveals - through the lenses of anatomy, cardiology, psychology and culture - how the heart nourishes, regulates and sustains life. The exhibition gives Museum visitors profound insight into the human body, health and disease, and the intricate world of the cardiovascular system. The exhibition awes visitors with more than 200 human specimens, including whole-body plastinates, organs and translucent body slices. Visit Exhibitions for more information.

UPCOMING PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION

Opens June 25 - Where Pink Dolphins Swim: Photographs from an Amazon Journey, by Tory Read
View the Brazilian Amazon and its people in this photography exhibit by fine art photographer Tory Read. More than 30 black-and-white images tell the documentary story of a journey down the river, and eight large-format color pinhole images convey a dreamlike impression of life along the river. Explore the natural environment, human society and culture on the river, and the contact zone between North Americans and the river's people.  Included with general admission and planned in conjunction with the 2010 Biennial of the Americas (www.biennialoftheamericas.org).

PLANETARIUM

Premieres June 11 - Journey to the Stars
The Museum's newest planetarium show features stunning images from space and ground telescopes, in addition to never-before-seen visualizations and innovative physics-based simulations.  Narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, Journey to the Stars launches viewers through space and time to experience the life and death of the stars in our night sky, including our own nurturing sun.

Now Playing - Hubble IMAX
Experience a gripping story full of hope, crushing disappointment, dazzling ingenuity, bravery and triumph. Hubble recounts the amazing journey of the Hubble Space Telescope, arguably the most important scientific instrument since Galileo's original telescope and the greatest success in space since the Moon landing. Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, Hubble will change the way you see the universe.

Go behind the veil on a journey into the exotic world of Arabia and experience the culture, history and religion of this unfamiliar region of the world. JUNE EVENTS

Film: Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo
Thursday, June 3 at 7 p.m. - $12 for Museum or Denver Film Society members, $15 for nonmembers
Attend the premiere screening of Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo, hosted by filmmaker Jessica Oreck. The film explores the mystery of Japan's love affair with bugs. Discuss the film, meet some Museum beetles, and ask curator of entomology Frank Krell, PhD, about beetle behavior and biology.

An Age-Old Question: What Happens When We Die?
Tuesday, June 8 at 7 p.m. - $8 for members, $10 for nonmembers
Gain cultural, medical and religious perspectives on what happens to our bodies when we die.  Bridget Coughlin, PhD, curator of human health leads a panel discussion in connection with BODY WORLDS, which will feature experts from around the community to contemplate varying beliefs on death.

Science Lounge: Cosmo in the Cosmos
Thursday, June 17 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. - $8 for members, $10 for nonmembers
Enjoy a mind-expanding experience with cocktails and entertainment every third Thursday of the month. Ages 21 and up. This month, watch the Museum's new planetarium show, Journey to the Stars, and then enjoy drinks, live music, stargazing and socializing on the Sky Terrace.
