New IMAX and Planetarium Shows Now Playing at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science

Museum offers Deep Sea 3D and SuperVolcanoes

Denver-October 5, 2012-The Denver Museum of Nature & Science invites visitors to see two new shows this fall. The IMAX film Deep Sea 3D and the planetarium show SuperVolcanoes both illustrate the amazing beauty of our universe, from the deepest oceans all the way to the moons of Jupiter.

Deep Sea 3D in Phipps IMAX Theater

Dive deep and swim with some of the most extraordinary sea creatures ever seen on the IMAX 3D screen! Deep Sea 3D is an underwater adventure that transports audiences way down below the ocean surface. You will encounter some of nature's mysterious and colorful creatures, from the unusual wolf eel to the giant Pacific octopus to the fearsome-looking sand tiger shark. Discover their peculiar and amazing behavior, and how they rely on one another for survival.

Narrated by Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, with an original score by Danny Elfman,Deep Sea 3Dtakes you and your family on a magical journey to places that most of us will never see.

Showtimes: Deep Sea 3D plays daily at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m., with additional shows on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

SuperVolcanoes in Gates Planetarium

Feel the heat! SuperVolcanoes  explores rare types of volcanic eruptions that marshal the energy that lurks, like a sleeping dragon, beneath the surface of planet Earth. The story of these big blowouts is a tale of havoc and mayhem: mass extinctions, climate collapses, and violence beyond anything humans have ever witnessed. In this immersive experience, audiences explore the impact of volcanism on Earth and other places in our solar system. Can a supervolcano erupt in our own time? The answer is surprisingly close to home.

Showtimes: SuperVolcanoes plays daily at noon, 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m., with additional shows Friday through Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
