SPRING BREAK PROGRAMMING AT THE DENVER MUSEUM OF NATURE & SCIENCE
Free programming included with general admission ticket
DENVER – March 19, 2014 – The Denver Museum of Nature & Science, the region's leading resource for informal science education, will provide a variety of spring break programs for children March 21 through April 6.
The Denver Museum of Nature & Science’s spring break programming complements the Museum’s current temporary exhibition, Maya: Hidden Worlds Revealed. Spring break programming is free with the purchase of a general admission ticket. The Museum’s Celebrate Mesoamerica spring break programs are as follows:
Friday, March 21, 10:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Maya Sky Activity with Museo de las Americas
Make your own “Maya zodiac” pendant to take home as maestras from Museo de las Americas share stories about Maya astrological traditions.
Saturday, March 22, 10:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Play the Mesoamerican Ball Game! (Games begin on the hour.)
Have a ball immersing yourself in the ways of the Maya people by playing the Mesoamerican ball game! Team Jaguar versus Team Snake—can you get the ball through the hoop?
Sunday, March 23, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
Colorado’s Creature Teacher, The Jungle Lady
See, touch, and learn about exotic and colorful snakes, turtles, lizards, and more! Often used in Maya art and myths, these amazing creatures are an important part of the cultural traits developed and shared by the Maya culture. Showtimes: 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m.

Mesoamerican Art Activity
Make a Mesoamerican-themed art piece to take home, such as a weaving, stone rubbing, or mask, with local artists from the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council.

Who will lead the Parade of Flight? The squirrel, the bee, or the parrot? Join in this exciting show, chock-full of spectacular sights, sounds, and science! After the show, explore the aerodynamics of flight and different animal fliers at two interactive Exploration Stations.
